What a QuizGen quiz looks like once you export it to PDF

Quizzes built in QuizGen.kr export to two formats: PDF and XLSX. This page documents what each format is for and how the exported PDF page is laid out.

Use PDF when you need a printable paper to hand out, or XLSX when you need to review items or process scores in a spreadsheet. The table and layout notes below reflect the actual export behavior.

Two export formats

The same quiz can be exported in any of these formats. Only PDF carries matching questions in full.

PDF.pdfPrintable papers and handouts

XLSX.xlsxReviewing items and processing scores in a spreadsheet
Not supported

Export matching questions as PDF

Only the PDF keeps the paired items and the matching structure intact. Matching questions are left out of XLSX exports, so use PDF for any quiz that contains them.

How the exported PDF page is laid out

The PDF is generated as A4 portrait only, with an answers-and-explanations section following the question pages. Page size and margins are fixed.

The exported PDFs themselves

Both files below were exported from QuizGen. Page through them and zoom in to inspect the layout, or download them and print a copy.

A quiz mixing multiple-choice and fill-in-the-blank questions. It shows how LaTeX math inside questions and explanations is placed on the page.

This browser cannot display a PDF inline. Use the download button below to save the file, then open it to review the layout. Desktop browsers show it right on the page.

Both samples were generated from openly available arXiv papers. Neither republishes the paper text; each contains only questions that restate verifiable facts in our own wording.

What export requires

Export runs only from the account that created the quiz. Someone who opens a public quiz link cannot export it.

  • You must be signed in with a verified email address.
  • You can export only the quizzes you created.
  • PDF export is metered by plan. The free plan allows one download per day.
  • Current usage is shown on your profile screen.

What is not supported

Export does not currently offer the following. Plan around them.

  • There is no word-processor export such as DOCX or HWP.
  • There is no option to export a question-only paper without answers and explanations.
  • There is no option to export an answer key on its own.
  • Paper size, margins, and font sizes cannot be changed. Only the PDF font can be switched between sans-serif and serif.

Frequently asked questions

Will the print match what I saw on screen?
The PDF is generated on a fixed A4 portrait page with fonts embedded in the file, so the layout holds when it is opened or printed elsewhere.
Can I hide the answers from students?
Answers and explanations are always generated after the question pages. When handing the paper out, print or separate the question pages and leave the answer pages aside.
Do quizzes with math export cleanly to PDF?
Supported LaTeX math is rendered as an image and placed on the page, so it looks identical even on a device without the fonts installed.
Are exported files stored on the server?
Each export is generated on request and sent straight to you; nothing is kept on the server. Export again whenever you need the file.
